What does TCG mean?
TCG stands for Trading Card Game. Some people play the game, some collect the cards and many enjoy both.

From a set to the card in your hand.
A “set” is a named group of cards released together. Packs contain a random selection from that set.
Packs are random. Opening them is fun, but buying the exact single card you want is usually the more predictable route.

Rare does not automatically mean valuable.
Rarity symbols and names change between games and sets. This general ladder shows the idea—not an official rule for every TCG.

Clean overall, with little or no visible wear. Always inspect under good lighting.
You do not need a huge budget to begin.
Choose a monthly hobby budget. This example splits it across cards, protection, events and a small reserve.

- The card details, texture, print or colours look wrong.
- A stranger demands an unsafe or unprotected payment method.
Should every good card be graded?
No. Grading can authenticate, assess and protect a card, but the fee and waiting time should make sense for your goal.
A grade is not guaranteed. A professional grading company—not the submitter—decides the final result.
Protect first. Upgrade storage when needed.
Heat, moisture, sunlight, pressure and rough handling can damage cards.

A healthy hobby space does not mock beginners. Good collectors explain, share knowledge and make room for people with different budgets and goals.
Community rule: the person with a £2 favourite card belongs just as much as the person with a £2,000 collection.
